It is relatively rare in our country for one party to have “unity” of all three branches of government Never in our history as a nation have all three branches of government been aligned in the approval and promotion of abortion as we will be on January 20. There is literally no form of abortion, including right up until birth, that mainstream Democrats (and now libertarians) disapprove of.
As a country we definitely are not in unity, but we are called as Christians to abide in unity. Jeremiah had the woeful task of delivering judgment to his nation, and seems that the final straw for God was when they adopted the practice of “passing their children through the fire –” child human sacrifice. I believe God passed that judgment upon them (placing them in bondage and exile) because that practice was institutionalized by their leaders.
Every nation and tribe that institutionalized human sacrifice was eventually destroyed. Often they were destroyed through invasion, like the Israelites, the Aztecs, and the North and South American Tribes (many who still remain in some manner, having been banned from sacrifice by their colonizers). In those continents in which Christianity was established, the practice was mostly eliminated… until now.
Historically children were sacrificed to external gods; in the US and other countries of the world now they are sacrificed for convenience, for careers, at the demand of lovers, peers, and parents: basically for the love of (and worship of) Self. The priesthood is no longer those dedicated to Set, or Moloch, or the sun gods of the Americas, but. a priesthood of authorities in white jackets, to whom (we think) we owe our physical and mental health.
There is a monetary “national debt” that many are concerned about; I believe our nation is accruing a debt in blood, the “blood of innocents” that is so often condemned in Scripture. I don’t know whether America will fall by enemy occupation, by plague, civil war, or natural disaster. She will fall, however, unless there is a revival.
The steps are clear: humility and prayer, and turning from our sinful, wicked ways (repentance). (2 Chronicles 7:14)
The only unity we as a country (and the Church) will achieve is at the foot of the Cross. When we set our government or ourselves up as gods we might achieve conformity, but never unity.
‘Cut off your hair and cast it away,
And take up a lamentation on the bare heights;
For the LORD has rejected and forsaken
The generation of His wrath.’
For the sons of Judah have done that which is evil in My sight,” declares the LORD, “they have set their detestable things in the house which is called by My name, to defile it. They have built the high places of Topheth, which is in the valley of the son of Hinnom, to burn their sons and their daughters in the fire, which I did not command, and it did not come into My mind.
